Rea Vaya Rolls Out Matchday Buses for Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns Fans
The City of Joburg has confirmed that Rea Vaya BRT buses will operate a special service on Saturday, 15 August 2026 for the highly anticipated Kaizer Chiefs vs Mamelodi Sundowns clash at FNB Stadium.
Fans will be transported seamlessly from Sandton, Alexandra (T4 buses), Cresta (C4 buses), Yeoville & Parktown (F11 & F12 buses), Florida North (C5 buses), Joburg CBD, and major parts of Soweto using event service buses. From Sandton and Alexandra, supporters can board T4a buses to Library Gardens Westbound and connect directly to event service buses bound for the stadium.
The T4a route will run at 5-minute intervals from 11h00, ensuring smooth travel from Sandton and Alexandra to the CBD. The Soccer City station at FNB Stadium opens at 10h00, giving fans ample time to arrive before the 15h00 kick-off.
Supporters traveling via T3 buses from Joburg CBD and Braamfontein can connect at Orlando Stadium Station to event service buses without incurring extra costs. Meanwhile, fans using Ellis Park North services will benefit from a free park-and-ride facility at Johannesburg Stadium, with secure parking provided.
For safety and security, the city urges fans to arrive early and reminds them that no alcohol will be permitted on buses or at stations. After the final whistle, buses will continue operating every 5 minutes to return fans to their destinations, with services ending at 19h00.
The last T4a bus departs Library Gardens Eastbound at 20h00 for Sandton and Alexandra.Travel cards are available at all Rea Vaya stations for R30.00, which can be loaded for return trips and reused for future travel. Fares are set at R14.00 from Thokoza Park (Soweto) and Park Station, while journeys from Sandton (Atholl) and Alexandra to FNB Stadium cost R19.00.
