Tickets for the highly anticipated 2026 MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have officially sold out, confirming the massive interest surrounding one of South African football’s biggest fixtures. Supporters had been eagerly waiting for ticket sales to open as the country’s two football giants prepare to battle for the prestigious trophy.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced that tickets went on sale at 10:00am on Friday, 02 October 2026, through the Open Tickets website. Fans rushed online in large numbers hoping to secure their seats for the blockbuster encounter, which is expected to attract a capacity crowd.

Demand for tickets proved overwhelming almost immediately after sales opened. Thousands of supporters logged onto the ticketing platform in an attempt to purchase tickets, highlighting the excitement generated by another major clash between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Later in the evening, at around 8:00pm, the PSL confirmed that all available tickets had been sold. The league shared the news through its social media platforms, declaring: “Tickets for the #MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are officially sold out.”

The much-anticipated final will be staged at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, 10 October 2026. Kick-off is scheduled for 18h00, with thousands of supporters expected to create a vibrant atmosphere for what promises to be an unforgettable contest between two of the country’s most successful clubs.

While the sell-out demonstrated the popularity of the final, many supporters were left frustrated by technical difficulties experienced during the purchasing process. Social media platforms were flooded with complaints from fans who claimed the Open Tickets website struggled to cope with the heavy traffic.

Several supporters reported experiencing website crashes and error messages while attempting to complete their purchases. Others said they were repeatedly removed from the system before they could finalise transactions, leaving many disappointed despite spending hours trying to secure tickets.

Adding to the frustration, numerous fans revealed that they remained on waiting lists for extended periods without gaining access to the ticket sales portal. Some supporters claimed they spent most of the day monitoring their queue positions, only to discover that tickets had sold out before they could reach the front of the line.

Despite the challenges experienced by many supporters, the rapid sell-out underlines the enormous appeal of the MTN8 final. With Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns set to renew their fierce rivalry on the grand stage, anticipation is continuing to build as football fans count down to one of the most eagerly awaited matches of the South African football season.
