Bradley Cross Reveals Kaizer Chiefs Focus Ahead of Stellenbosch FC Clash
Kaizer Chiefs defender Bradley Cross says the team has used the international break wisely as they prepare for their Betway Premiership encounter against Stellenbosch FC at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night (19h30).
Speaking during the club’s pre-match press conference, Cross explained that the players and coaching staff have spent time focusing on the finer details of their game. He revealed that a major priority has been improving the team’s defensive discipline while also becoming more clinical in front of goal.
According to Cross, the squad is determined to cut out the avoidable mistakes that have led to goals being conceded. At the same time, the players have been working hard to ensure they convert more of the opportunities they create during matches.
The defender also shared an update on his personal progress after experiencing injury setbacks earlier in the season. Cross admitted that the issue slowed him down following his participation at the World Cup, but he is now feeling fully fit and ready to contribute.
Reflecting on his World Cup experience, Cross described the tournament as a valuable learning opportunity. Although he did not spend as much time on the field as he would have liked, he believes he gained important insights by observing different styles of football at the highest level.
Cross said he is eager to use those lessons to improve his performances at Kaizer Chiefs. While he has worked extensively on his defensive responsibilities and one-on-one situations, he identified his attacking contribution as an area where he still wants to make further progress.
Looking ahead to the clash against Stellenbosch, the defender stressed the importance of remaining focused on the team’s objectives. He believes Chiefs must move on from recent draws and continue collecting positive results to stay among the leading teams in the league. Cross also noted that the squad is motivated to produce a strong performance during the chairman’s birthday week.
The defender credited the team’s unbeaten run to collective effort rather than individual brilliance. He praised the unity within the squad and expressed confidence in the depth available across the defensive department. As Chiefs prepare for another important test, Cross believes teamwork, concentration and consistency will be key to securing a positive result against Stellenbosch.
