Durban City FC Bolster Squad with Signing of Ugandan Goalkeeper Salim Magoola

Durban City FC have announced the signing of Ugandan international goalkeeper Salim Magoola as they look to strengthen their squad during the ongoing season. The Citizens confirmed the arrival of the experienced shot-stopper in an official club statement.

The club welcomed Magoola to Durban with a brief but enthusiastic message, stating: “Durban City FC is pleased to announce the signing of Ugandan international goalkeeper, Salim Magoola.”

Durban City added: “A new chapter begins in Blue & White. Welcome to the Citizens family, Magoola.” The signing comes at an important stage of the campaign as the club aims to improve its position on the league table.

After eight matches this season, Durban City currently occupy 11th place. The team has registered one victory, four draws and three defeats, highlighting the need for consistency as they look to climb the standings.

The Citizens have found goals difficult to come by so far, scoring just five times in their opening eight fixtures. Defensively, they have conceded seven goals, suggesting that matches involving Durban City have often been closely contested affairs.

Magoola’s arrival could provide a significant boost to the team’s defensive structure. The goalkeeper brings valuable top-flight experience and is familiar with South African football following his previous spell with Richards Bay.

The Ugandan international boasts an impressive record in the Betway Premiership, where he made 78 appearances. During that time, he kept 31 clean sheets while conceding 69 goals, underlining his experience at the highest level of the local game.

With Durban City looking to turn draws into victories and move away from the bottom half of the table, the club will hope Magoola’s leadership, experience and shot-stopping ability can make an immediate impact as the season progresses.
