Durban City finally champions of Motsepe Foundation Championship

Durban City finally crowned champions of the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship after JDR Stars and Cape Town Spurs’ protests against them was dismissed with costs.

Cape Town Spurs and JDR Stars’ case against Durban City and midfielder Saziso Magawana was dismissed by the arbitrator, Hilton Epstein on Monday, 2 June 2025.

A club statement read: “The arbitration case against us by JDR Stars and Cape Town Spurs has been dismissed with costs.

“We’re officially the champions of the Motsepe Foundation Championship and next season, we play in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). This moment is for our city.”
