Danny Jordaan salutes Bafana Bafana for qualifying for next year’s AFCON in Morocco

South African Football Association (SAFA) President Dr Danny Jordaan has congratulated Bafana Bafana after they qualified for next year’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco with two games to spare.

South Africa qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, after South Sudan beat Congo 3-2 on Thursday.

The 2025 AFCON is scheduled to begin on the 21st of December 2025, and will culminate with the final on the 18th of January 2026.

  • Uganda – 4 games – 10 points
  • South Africa – 4 games – 08 points
  • Congo Brazzaville – 5 games – 04 points
  • South Sudan – 5 games – 03 points

“Congratulations to coach Hugo Broos, his technical and support staff, the players and everybody who contributes to the team,” Dr Jordaan told www.www.safa.net. 

“This is a magnificent feat to have qualified for the next AFCON in the same year that Bafana Bafana won the bronze medal at the tournament held in Côte d’Ivoire from 13 January – 11 February 2024. On behalf of the SAFA NEC, congratulations to the team.”

Bafana Bafana will take on Uganda in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda on Friday, 15 November 2024. The game will kick-off at 15h00 and will be LIVE on SABC 2 and SABC+.
