Ronwen Williams: “We want to finish the year on a positive note”

Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams says they want to finish the year on a positive note after qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

South Africa qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco with two games to spare, after South Sudan beat Congo 3-2 on Thursday.

Williams commented on the readiness of Bafana Bafana and how excited they are on facing Uganda at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.

“We want to finish the year on a positive note. We have had a wonderful year, a successful year, so we want to keep building on that,” Williams told www.www.safa.net.

“It is going to be a tough one [against Uganda], we are excited. The week has been amazing, we have got some of the players back who have been injured and that is good. We lost some of our players [due to injury] and we will be playing on their behalf as well because they have been on this journey with us. It has been a long journey, and we are proud of our achievement getting to AFCON back-to-back.”

Bafana Bafana will take on Uganda in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda on Friday, 15 November 2024. The game will kick-off at 15h00 and will be LIVE on SABC 2 and SABC+.
