Northern Cape football clubs inspired by visit from Betway Premiership Legends
Betway’s brand ambassadors visit Northern Cape community football clubs as the Betway Premiership title sponsors continue country-wide tour.
The proud sponsors of Africa’s biggest football league on Thursday, 13 March travelled to the country’s largest province for a roadshow that involved visits to community clubs, engagement with supporters as well as an exclusive watch party of the weekend’s Betway Premiership marquee fixture between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday, 16 March.
The brand’s extensive trip involved visits to Kuruman, Kathu, Upington and Kimberley where four amateur clubs received brand new football kits as part of the caring brand’s efforts of making a positive difference in communities through its Betway Cares Foundation.
In addition to receiving brand new kit, the teams had the unique privilege of engaging and training with Betway Premiership legends, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Happy Jele, Lucky Lekgwathi, Katlego Mphela, Mpho Makola, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Hlompho Kekana, Oupa Manyisa as well as Lebohang Mokoena who all shared encouraging words with the future Betway Premiership stars.
Speaking from the last kit handover stop in Kimberley, Siphiwe Tshabalala urged the clubs and communities to continue working towards their goal and not be discouraged by their current surroundings.
“Football can change your lives. We (Betway Squad) are a living testimony of this and fortunately for you, we also come from similar environments where there was little hope but through hard work and dedication, we have played for some of the biggest clubs and represented the nation with Bafana Bafana. With this gesture from Betway, we hope to encourage you to continue working hard and hopefully see you soon in the Betway Premiership” said Tshabalala.
Thanking Betway on behalf of all clubs, Kimberley United FC club owner and chairman, Mr Willy Pike urged Betway to continue making a difference and extending it to other far-flung areas.
“We are truly thankful but more importantly, encouraged by this unexpected gesture from Betway. Kit and equipment remain a serious need for football clubs at this level and for Betway to generously gift this to us along with a visit by our role models, we are truly thankful. We urge them to extend this generosity to other communities across the country,” said Pike.
