Flavio Silva and Aden McCarthy fire Kaizer Chiefs past Al Masry in Polokwane

Kaizer Chiefs edged Al Masry SC 2-1 in a tense CAF Confederation Cup Group D clash at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday. The win boosts Amakhosi’s chances of reaching the quarter-finals, with one crucial fixture remaining.

Chiefs took the lead in the 39th minute through Flavio Silva, who calmly converted a penalty after a handball in the box. Al Masry responded early in the second half with a well-placed strike from Abderrahim Deghmoum in the 57th minute. But just three minutes later, Aden McCarthy restored Chiefs’ lead with a composed finish following a swift counterattack.

Despite Al Masry dominating possession, Chiefs held firm defensively and showed greater efficiency in key moments to claim all three points.

Kaizer Chiefs will face Zamalek SC on Saturday, 14 February 2026, in their final group-stage match. A draw will be enough to secure their place in the quarter-finals.
