Five-star Buccaneers! Orlando Pirates roar loud in Soweto — Golden Arrows crushed 5-0!

Orlando Pirates produced a scintillating display to crush Golden Arrows 5-0 in their Betway Premiership encounter at the Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto on Tuesday night. The Buccaneers were ruthless from start to finish, dominating possession and carving open the Arrows defense with precision and flair.

The home side set the tone early, pressing high and forcing errors from the visitors. Their attacking rhythm was relentless, and once the first goal went in, the floodgates opened. Pirates’ movement and finishing were clinical, leaving Arrows chasing shadows throughout the match.

The opening goal arrived in the 16th minute when Relebohile Mofokeng finished off a flowing move with composure. Pirates doubled their lead in the 30th minute through Oswin Appollis, who pounced on a defensive lapse to fire home. Just before halftime, Golden Arrows’ misery deepened as Edward Maova turned the ball into his own net in the 41st minute, giving Pirates a commanding 3-0 advantage at the break.

In the second half, Pirates continued their ruthless display. Mofokeng struck again in the 61st minute with a curling effort from the edge of the box, showcasing his growing confidence and flair. The rout was completed in the 93rd minute when Appollis grabbed his second of the night, finishing off a sweeping counterattack to seal a memorable victory for the Soweto giants.

The emphatic win keeps Orlando Pirates firmly in the title race, moving them to 54 points, just two behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who edged Durban City FC 1-0 at Chatsworth Stadium. Both sides have played the same number of games, setting up a thrilling run-in to the end of the season.

Despite the heavy defeat, Golden Arrows remain in the top eight with 28 points, though their defensive frailties were brutally exposed by a Pirates side brimming with confidence and attacking intent.
