Champions Rule August – Abdeslam Ouaddou Crowned Best Coach of the Month
Orlando Pirates mentor Abdeslam Ouaddou has been named Betway Premiership Coach of the Month for August, after guiding the defending champions to an unbeaten start in their title defence. In four matches, the Buccaneers recorded three wins and one draw, scoring eight goals while conceding just once — a powerful statement of intent from the Soweto giants.
The Buccaneers opened their campaign with a confident 2-0 home victory against newcomers Milford FC. Ouaddou’s men showcased their defensive discipline and attacking sharpness, setting the tone for the month and reminding rivals why Pirates are the reigning champions.
Their second fixture took them to Durban, where they faced AmaZulu FC. In a tightly contested encounter, Pirates were held to a 1-1 draw. Despite dropping points, Ouaddou’s tactical resilience ensured his side remained unbeaten and competitive in a challenging away fixture.
The response was emphatic. In their third game, Pirates dismantled Chippa United with a commanding 3-0 victory in Durban. The Buccaneers’ attacking depth was on full display, with fluid movement and clinical finishing overwhelming their opponents. This performance reaffirmed their status as champions with a hunger for more.
Back in Soweto, Pirates hosted Sekhukhune United and delivered another professional display. A 2-0 win at Orlando Stadium highlighted their balance — compact at the back, yet incisive in attack. Ouaddou’s tactical discipline ensured the defending champions maintained control throughout.
Across these fixtures, Ouaddou’s fingerprints were clear. His emphasis on collective responsibility ensured goals came from multiple sources, while his defensive drills kept the backline disciplined and organized. Conceding just one goal in four matches is a testament to the team’s focus and tactical maturity.
The award recognizes not only the results but also the manner in which they were achieved. Ouaddou’s calm leadership, adaptability, and ability to motivate his squad have created a culture of professionalism and ambition. His influence has transformed Pirates into one of the most consistent and feared teams in the league.
For the champions, this accolade is more than just recognition — it is a statement of intent. Ouaddou has instilled belief, ambition, and professionalism in his squad. August’s performances show that the Orlando Pirates are not only defending their crown but are determined to build a dynasty of dominance under their inspirational coach.
