New Boss, New Hope: Kaitano Tembo Handed Venda Football Club Hot Seat
A new era has officially dawned at Venda Football Club following the appointment of experienced Zimbabwean tactician Kaitano Tembo as the club’s new head coach. The announcement marks a significant shift in direction for the Limpopo-based outfit as they look to turn around a difficult start to their Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign.
Tembo was formally introduced to the club by newly appointed CEO Dr Rendani Mulaudzi, a move that highlights the sweeping changes currently taking place behind the scenes at Tshirululuni. The arrival of both a new chief executive and head coach signals Venda FC’s determination to rebuild and strengthen the club’s structure both on and off the field.
The 56-year-old coach replaces Clinton Larsen, who recently parted ways with the club after a challenging opening to the season. With Venda FC struggling near the bottom of the standings, management has moved swiftly in search of a fresh approach that can inspire improved performances and results.
In an official statement, the club welcomed their new mentor and expressed confidence in the work that lies ahead. “CEO Dr Rendani Mulaudzi officially welcomed our new Head Coach, Kaitano Tembo, to the clubhouse this morning,” Venda FC announced.
The club further emphasised the task awaiting the experienced coach. “The hard work starts now as Coach Tembo takes the reins and prepares the squad for the battles ahead,” the statement read, underlining the urgency of the rebuilding process.

Tembo arrives with a wealth of coaching experience gained across Southern Africa. During his managerial career, he has led clubs such as SuperSport United, Sekhukhune United, Richards Bay FC, and Zimbabwean giants Dynamos. His extensive knowledge of South African football is expected to be a valuable asset as Venda FC attempt to climb the standings.
The challenge facing Tembo is clear from the club’s current position. Venda FC have collected just one point from their opening four Motsepe Foundation Championship matches, recording three defeats and one draw. Sitting 15th on the league table, the club will be hoping that Tembo’s leadership, tactical expertise, and experience can spark a turnaround and guide the team away from the relegation zone in the weeks ahead.
