Danny Jordaan Salutes Bafana Bafana’s Perfect Start to AFCON Qualifying Campaign
Bafana Bafana continued their impressive start to the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a commanding 5-0 victory over Eritrea at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday night. The convincing result made it two wins from two matches for South Africa, keeping them at the top of Group D with a perfect points tally.
South Africa produced another polished performance, showcasing their attacking quality and defensive discipline throughout the encounter. The victory further strengthened confidence within the squad as they continue their quest to secure qualification for the continental showpiece.
Despite being designated as the home team, Eritrea were unable to host the match in their own country because they do not have a Confederation of African Football-approved stadium. As a result, the fixture was moved to Egypt, where only a small crowd was present at the neutral venue.
Following the match, South African Football Association President Dr. Danny Jordaan praised the national team for their excellent start to the qualification campaign. In comments published on the SAFA website, Jordaan congratulated the players, coaching staff and management on their efforts.
“Congratulations to HOD Molwantwa, coach Pitso, the players and technical team,” Jordaan said via the SAFA website.
The SAFA president’s remarks reflected the satisfaction within the association after Bafana Bafana secured back-to-back victories in their opening qualifying fixtures. The result has placed South Africa in a strong position early in the campaign and provided a solid foundation for the matches ahead.
Jordaan also highlighted the significance of collecting maximum points from the opening encounters, acknowledging the work done by the squad and technical team to get the campaign off to a successful start.
“You have picked up six points in your first two qualifiers, congratulations,” Jordaan added on the SAFA website.
With momentum continuing to build, Bafana Bafana will now turn their attention to the next round of qualifiers. Having begun the campaign in impressive fashion, the national team will be eager to maintain their winning run and take another step towards booking their place at the Africa Cup of Nations.
