Stellenbosch FC Complete Signing of Nigerian Midfielder Lateef Adeyanju Kazeem
Stellenbosch FC have strengthened their squad with the signing of Nigerian midfielder Lateef Adeyanju Kazeem on a free transfer ahead of their upcoming Betway Premiership encounter against Kaizer Chiefs.
The Cape Winelands outfit confirmed the acquisition in an official club statement, expressing their excitement at bringing the talented midfielder to South Africa. The move adds further depth to Steve Barker’s squad as they continue their campaign on multiple fronts.
“Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Nigerian midfielder Adeyanju Kazeem on a free transfer,” the club said in its statement. The midfielder joins the club after spending time with Plateau United in the Nigerian Premier Football League.
Stellenbosch also revealed that all the necessary paperwork had already been completed before officially unveiling the player. “Having concluded all formalities last month, Stellenbosch FC has bolstered its ranks with the acquisition of Adeyanju Kazeem, who most recently plied his trade in the Nigerian PFL with Plateau United,” the club stated.
Kazeem’s arrival continues Stellenbosch’s connection with Nigerian talent. The midfielder becomes another player from the West African nation to wear the club’s colours as he looks to make a strong impression in South African football.
“He will become the fifth Nigerian player to represent Stellenbosch, following in the footsteps of Stanley Dimgba, Ibraheem Jabaar, Kazie Enyinnaya, and Olisa Ndah,” the club added.
The timing of the transfer could prove significant, with Kazeem potentially available for selection when Stellenbosch travel to face Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium. The clash is one of the standout fixtures on the Premiership calendar, and all eyes will be on whether the midfielder is handed an opportunity to feature.
“Kazeem will wear the No. 29 jersey this season and could be in line to make his debut when the Club takes on Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday evening,” Stellenbosch confirmed. Should he be included in the matchday squad, the Nigerian midfielder will be eager to announce himself on one of the biggest stages in South African football.
