The Road to the Trophy Starts Here as Carling Knockout Fixtures Are Unveiled
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has officially confirmed the Round of 16 fixtures for this season’s Carling Knockout following the draw held on Wednesday at the Langhams Lifestyle Estate in Fourways, Johannesburg. The ceremony marked the beginning of another exciting knockout competition as all 16 Betway Premiership clubs discovered their paths to potential cup glory.
Supporters across the country eagerly followed the proceedings as teams learned who they would face in the opening round. The Carling Knockout has earned a reputation for producing thrilling encounters, dramatic upsets and unforgettable moments, making it one of the most anticipated competitions on the domestic football calendar.
The draw featured a seeding system based on the final standings from last season’s Betway Premiership campaign. The top eight teams were placed in the seeded pot, ensuring they would avoid one another in the Round of 16 and instead face clubs from the unseeded group.
That format protected some of the country’s biggest sides from meeting too early in the competition. As a result, supporters will have to wait until the later stages should clubs such as Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs continue their progress toward the final.

Defending champions Orlando Pirates were handed a home fixture against Milford FC as they begin their quest to retain the trophy. The Buccaneers enjoyed a successful Carling Knockout campaign last season and will be aiming for another deep run in the competition.
Recently crowned MTN8 champions Mamelodi Sundowns will face Marumo Gallants in what promises to be one of the standout ties of the opening round. Gallants will be eager to test themselves against one of the strongest squads in South African football and pull off a major upset.
Kaizer Chiefs, meanwhile, will welcome TS Galaxy to their home ground in another intriguing fixture. Amakhosi supporters will be hoping their side can make a strong start to the tournament against a Galaxy outfit looking to rediscover consistency.
Elsewhere, AmaZulu FC will travel to face Kruger United, while Golden Arrows have been drawn against Chippa United. Durban City FC will take on Stellenbosch FC in a clash that could prove one of the most competitive encounters of the round.
The remaining fixtures see Polokwane City face Siwelele FC, while Sekhukhune United will lock horns with Richards Bay FC. With every match being a knockout affair, there will be little room for error as teams battle for a place in the quarter-finals.
With the draw now complete, attention turns to the action on the pitch as clubs prepare for the start of another exciting Carling Knockout campaign. While the seeded teams will start as favourites, history has shown that surprises are never far away in cup football, setting the stage for what promises to be a captivating Round of 16.
