Golden Arrows Confirm Mandla Ncikazi Return as Head Coach
Golden Arrows have officially announced the return of Mandla Ncikazi as the club’s new head coach, marking a homecoming for one of the most respected figures in the club’s recent history.
The Durban-based Betway Premiership side confirmed the appointment on Thursday, moving quickly to fill the vacancy following the departure of Pitso Dladla.
Ncikazi’s appointment came just hours after his official exit from Orlando Pirates, where he had served as assistant coach and played a key role in the club’s recent successes both domestically and in continental competitions.
His return to Golden Arrows has been welcomed by supporters, with the club describing him as a familiar face who understands the culture, traditions and values that have shaped Abafana Bes’thende over the years.
In a statement announcing the appointment, the club said: “Lamontville Golden Arrows Football Club is delighted to welcome back Coach Mandla Ncikazi who returns to Abafana Bes’thende to take the reins as Head Coach.”
The club highlighted Ncikazi’s strong connection with Golden Arrows and his deep understanding of the team’s identity.
“A familiar face, a proud son of the Club and a man who understands the culture and traditions of the Club,” the statement read.
Golden Arrows also pointed to the vast experience the coach has accumulated throughout his career and expressed confidence that he will make an immediate impact.
“The Club looks forward to benefiting from his immense knowledge and experience attained over the course of a long and successful career,” the club said.
The appointment signals a new chapter for the KwaZulu-Natal outfit as they look to improve their performances and climb the Betway Premiership standings under a coach who already knows the environment well.
The club emphasised the importance of unity as it begins a fresh journey under Ncikazi’s leadership.
“We look forward to this new chapter as we unite behind Coach Ncikazi and the journey ahead,” Golden Arrows stated.
Supporters were also encouraged to rally behind the returning coach, with the club making it clear that Ncikazi remains a highly valued figure within the Arrows family.
“Sthende Nation welcomes you back Coach. Home is where it all begins,” the statement continued.
Golden Arrows concluded their announcement with a warm message in isiZulu, celebrating the return of one of the club’s most recognizable coaching figures.
“Siyakwamukela ekhaya, Mqeqeshi,” the club said, officially welcoming Ncikazi back home as he begins his latest chapter in charge of Abafana Bes’thende.
