Sekhukhune United Appoint Papi Zothwane as New Head Coach

Sekhukhune United have confirmed the appointment of Papi Zothwane as their new head coach, following the departure of Burundian tactician Cedric Kaze. The decision comes after a turbulent run in the Betway Premiership, with the club opting for fresh leadership to steady their campaign.

In their official statement, the club declared: “Papi Zothwane has been appointed to lead the technical team as Head Coach.” The announcement marks a new chapter for Babina Noko, who are determined to bounce back after a difficult start to the season.

The statement also outlined the new technical structure: “[He will be] assisted by Paulus Masehe, while Nascent Nkhwashu will continue in his role as Goalkeeper Coach.” This combination of fresh leadership and continuity is expected to provide balance as the team adapts to the change.

Kaze’s exit was inevitable after a string of poor results against Orlando Pirates. Sekhukhune lost 1-0 in the MTN8 semifinal first leg, 2-0 in the Premiership, and 3-0 in the MTN8 semifinal second leg. These defeats, all in quick succession, left the club with little choice but to part ways with the Burundian coach.

Now, the spotlight falls firmly on Zothwane. The club currently sits 8th in the Betway Premiership after four games, a position that reflects both potential and vulnerability. Zothwane’s immediate challenge will be to lift morale and instill consistency in performances.

For Zothwane, the task is clear: rebuild confidence, sharpen tactics, and deliver results. With the backing of his assistants and the faith of the supporters, he has the opportunity to transform Sekhukhune United’s season and write a new chapter in the club’s story.
