Venue Mystery Ends Tonight for Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates MTN8 Final
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) will officially announce the host venue for the highly anticipated 2026 MTN8 final tonight, with football fans across South Africa eagerly awaiting confirmation of where the season’s first major trophy decider will be staged.
The announcement will be made live during SuperSport’s popular football programme Extra Time at 20h00, where the PSL will also conduct the structural home-and-away draw ahead of the showcase event scheduled for Saturday, 10 October 2026.
In a statement confirming the process, the PSL said: “The draw and venue announcement for the MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns will be conducted tonight at 20:00, live on the SuperSport PSL Channel (Ch. 202).”
Defending MTN8 champions Orlando Pirates were the first team to secure their place in the final after producing a dominant display against Sekhukhune United. The Buccaneers claimed a convincing 3-0 victory at a packed Orlando Amstel Arena on 29 August 2026, completing a 4-0 aggregate success.
That result saw Pirates make history by becoming the first PSL club to qualify for five consecutive MTN8 finals, further strengthening their reputation as one of South Africa’s most successful knockout competition teams.
Mamelodi Sundowns joined them in the final a day later after overcoming Golden Arrows in a dramatic semi-final encounter. Having entered the second leg trailing 1-0, the reigning African champions responded with determination and attacking quality to secure a 3-2 victory at King Zwelithini Stadium.
The Tshwane giants progressed on the away goals rule, setting up another highly anticipated showdown with their long-time rivals. Sundowns will be aiming to add the MTN8 crown to their growing list of achievements, while Pirates will be determined to defend their title successfully.
With two of the country’s biggest clubs set to battle for silverware, attention now shifts to tonight’s venue announcement. The confirmation of the host stadium is expected to generate significant excitement as supporters begin preparations for what promises to be one of the biggest matches on the South African football calendar.
