Pitso Mosimane Sends Heartfelt Message After Perfect Start With Bafana Bafana

Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has shared an emotional message following a perfect start to his latest spell in charge of the South African men’s national team.

Mosimane’s return to the Bafana Bafana bench has already produced encouraging results, with South Africa winning all three matches played during the recent international period. The national side scored eight goals and conceded just once across victories over Guinea, Eritrea and Egypt.

The run began with a 2-1 victory against Guinea in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier before Bafana Bafana delivered an impressive 5-0 win over Eritrea a few days later. South Africa then completed the successful camp with a hard-fought 1-0 international friendly triumph over Egypt away from home.

While supporters celebrated the results, Mosimane chose to focus on the journey ahead rather than the unbeaten record. The experienced coach took to X to reflect on what the recent camp meant to him and the national team.

“Three games, three wins,” Mosimane wrote, acknowledging the positive beginning to his tenure while maintaining a measured outlook on the team’s progress.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach also spoke warmly about the opportunity to work closely with the players during the international break.

“Being in camp with the team last month was a privilege. We tested ourselves, seen the quality within this team and made a positive start towards AFCON 2027 Qualifiers,” Mosimane said.

His comments highlighted the belief that exists within the squad, as well as the technical team’s confidence that the foundations are being laid for something special in the coming years.

“There is still a long road ahead, but the direction is clear and the work continues. Grateful to represent South Africa and to everyone who continues to support Bafana Bafana,” added the coach, emphasising that the recent victories are only the beginning of a much bigger project.

Mosimane also reserved special praise for South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who visited the team during their stay in Egypt, a gesture that clearly left a lasting impression on the national team setup.

“A special thank you to His Excellency, President Ramaphosa, for paying us a visit whilst we were in Egypt. It was an honour to meet you and hear your words of encouragement,” Mosimane wrote.

The coach concluded his message with a simple but powerful reminder of the task that still lies ahead: “The journey continues.” Those words may resonate strongly with South African football supporters, who will hope the perfect start under Mosimane is the first chapter of a successful road towards AFCON 2027 qualification and beyond.
