Pitso Mosimane Highlights Discipline & Professionalism in Bafana Bafana Squad

Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has expressed confidence in his squad ahead of their upcoming encounter against Guinea, highlighting the players’ commitment, discipline and desire to represent the nation. Speaking during a pre-match press conference, Mosimane praised the attitude shown by the group since reporting for national team duty.

The coach revealed that he has been encouraged by the humility and hunger displayed by the players in camp. According to Mosimane, all locally based players arrived on time and demonstrated respect for the national team badge, something he believes is crucial in building a strong and united squad capable of competing at the highest level.

Mosimane also confirmed that his technical team is now complete following the arrival of goalkeeper coach Marcus Mashilo and an additional assistant focused on data analysis. He explained that the additions are part of a broader effort to improve player development and strengthen the pathway for local talent within South African football.

Questions surrounding player selections were also addressed, particularly regarding the inclusion of Thabang Matuludi. Mosimane defended the decision, insisting that player selection is based on extensive scouting, analysis and performances in training sessions rather than simply judging players on club appearances alone.

Beyond the upcoming match, Mosimane spoke passionately about his long-term vision for South African football. The Bafana Bafana coach said he wants to help transform the game from grassroots level upward, creating a winning culture and strong development structures that can consistently produce top-quality players for the national team.

Despite his optimism, Mosimane acknowledged that Guinea will provide a stern test. He pointed to the quality within the opposition squad, including a striker currently playing for Borussia Dortmund, and warned that reputations alone do not win matches. The coach stressed that success will ultimately depend on what the players produce on the pitch when the two nations meet.
