Richards Bay FC Hit Reset Button With Dimitar Pantev Appointment

Richards Bay FC have officially confirmed the appointment of Dimitar Nikolaev Pantev as the club’s new head coach as they look to revive their struggling Betway Premiership campaign. The Bulgarian tactician arrives following the departure of Ronnie Gabriel, who resigned last week after the Natal Rich Boyz endured a winless start to the new season.

The club announced that Pantev has signed a one-season contract with an option to renew. In an official statement, Richards Bay said: “Richards Bay Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Dimitar Nikolaev Pantev as the Head Coach. He has signed for one season with an option to renew.”

Pantev arrives with an impressive coaching résumé built across Southern and East African football. Richards Bay highlighted his experience, stating: “Coach Dimitar brings wealth of experience having coached clubs like Simba SC from Tanzania, Jwaneng Galaxy from Botswana and Gaborone United from Botswana.” The club hopes that experience can help steer the team away from the lower end of the standings.

The new coach’s achievements have also attracted attention. According to the club statement, the Bulgarian played a key role in guiding Simba SC to the CAF Champions League group stages, while also leading ORAPA United into the CAF Confederation Cup group stages. He further enjoyed domestic success by winning league titles during his time in Botswana.

Pantev takes over a side desperate for a change in fortunes. Richards Bay currently sit near the bottom of the Betway Premiership table in fourteenth position after failing to register a victory in their opening matches. A combination of defeats and draws has left the KwaZulu-Natal outfit searching for consistency as they battle to climb away from danger.

The appointment represents a significant gamble by the club, but one they hope will bring immediate results. With valuable experience in continental competition and title-winning credentials, expectations will be high as Pantev begins his tenure at Richards Bay.

The club has already thrown its support behind its new coach. In its official statement, Richards Bay concluded: “The Club is delighted to welcome the Coach to Richards Bay Football Club and wishes him all the best.” Supporters will now be hoping that the Bulgarian can quickly inspire a turnaround and lead the team back in the right direction.

For Pantev, the challenge is clear. Richards Bay’s season has yet to gain momentum, but the arrival of a coach with continental and championship-winning experience offers fresh hope that the club can reverse its fortunes and begin climbing the Betway Premiership table.
