Double Boost for Orlando Pirates as Injured Duo Reach New Recovery Milestone

Orlando Pirates have received encouraging news on the injury front after attackers Mohau Nkota and Andre de Jong made significant progress in their respective recoveries. The Buccaneers confirmed that both players have advanced to the next stage of rehabilitation, providing a timely boost as the club continues its campaign on multiple fronts.

The two attackers have spent time on the sidelines due to injury concerns, limiting coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s options in the attacking department. However, their latest progress suggests they are moving closer to a return to competitive action.

In an official update, the club revealed that “Mohau Nkota and Andre de Jong are continuing to make progress in their respective rehabilitation programmes.” The statement will come as welcome news for Pirates supporters eager to see the pair back on the field.

The Soweto giants also provided details regarding the nature of the injuries being managed by the two players. According to the club, “Nkota is recovering from a knee injury, while De Jong is undergoing treatment for a hamstring injury,” offering clarity on the challenges both players have been facing.

While neither player has returned to full training, an important milestone has already been reached. Pirates confirmed that “both players have progressed to field-based rehabilitation,” a development that indicates their recovery programmes are moving in the right direction.

Field-based rehabilitation is often viewed as a crucial stage in the recovery process, allowing players to gradually increase their workload on the training ground under medical supervision. It serves as a bridge between gym-based exercises and a full return to team activities.

Despite the positive development, the club remains cautious over setting any return dates. In the same injury update, Pirates stressed that “although no timeframe has been confirmed for their return, the move to on-field rehabilitation represents a positive step in their recovery.”

The latest update will nevertheless provide optimism within the Pirates camp as they await the return of two attackers capable of adding depth and quality to the squad. For now, Nkota and De Jong continue their rehabilitation, but their progression to field-based training suggests both players are edging closer to making their long-awaited comeback.
