Amakhosi Fans Left Frustrated as Kaizer Chiefs Confirm TV Blackout

Kaizer Chiefs supporters were dealt disappointing news ahead of the club’s CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round first-leg clash against Red Arrows on Saturday afternoon after the Soweto giants confirmed that the match would not be televised in South Africa.

The highly anticipated encounter at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola was scheduled to kick off at 15h00 South African time, with thousands of Amakhosi supporters eager to follow their team’s latest continental assignment.

However, just hours before kick-off, Chiefs released an official statement informing fans that the fixture would not be available on television due to broadcasting challenges involving the host club.

“This afternoon’s CAF Confederation Cup clash against Red Arrows FC will not be televised in South Africa,” the club said in a statement.

The announcement immediately sparked frustration among supporters who had been expecting to watch the match live as Kaizer Chiefs continued their quest for progress in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Chiefs went on to explain that the issue was linked to the host side’s inability to provide the necessary broadcast arrangements required by South African broadcasters.

“Unfortunately, the hosting team has been unable to provide our broadcasters, SABC with the necessary link to air the match in Mzansi,” the statement continued.

The development meant that supporters across the country would be unable to watch the match unfold live despite the growing interest surrounding Amakhosi’s return to continental competition.

Recognising the disappointment among the club’s fanbase, Chiefs reassured supporters that efforts would be made to ensure they remained informed throughout the afternoon.

“We will keep Amakhosi faithful updated,” the club added.

As a result, supporters were forced to rely on social media updates and match reports to follow events from Ndola. Despite the broadcasting setback, Chiefs remained focused on the task at hand as they looked to secure a positive result against Red Arrows and take a valuable advantage into the return leg in South Africa.
