Bafana Bafana’s opponents for September and October revealed

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed via their website that Bafana Bafana will play four international friendly matches in September and October.

South Africa will host Namibia on the 9th of September 2023 at 15h00 and on the 12th of September 20223 at 18h00, they will face DR Congo.

On the 13th of October 2023, Bafana Bafana will face Eswatini in South Africa, and then travel to the west of the continent to face the Africa Cup of Nations hosts Ivory Coast on the 17th of October 2023.

The venues of the matches in South Africa will be confirmed in the coming weeks.    

According to SAFA, these games are for Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos to prepare the team for the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast in January next year, and for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao said: “These matches are in support of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos as he continues with his preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations in the beginning of next year, and the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November this year.”
