Pitso Mosimane Pleased With Bafana Bafana Display After Guinea Victory

Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance following their 2-1 victory over Guinea, praising the intensity, pressing and attacking intent shown throughout the match. While delighted with the result, he admitted there is still room for improvement when it comes to converting chances.

The South Africa coach acknowledged the quality of the Guinean side and said his players were tested by a well-organised opponent. He praised Guinea’s tactical discipline and ability to remain competitive, making it clear that his team had to work hard for the victory.

Mosimane highlighted the contribution of the entire squad, stating that the players showed commitment and determination from start to finish. He was particularly pleased with the team’s ability to compete in physical battles while maintaining composure in possession.

The Bafana Bafana mentor also explained some of his tactical decisions during the match. He revealed that certain changes were made to add more strength in key areas of the pitch and improve the team’s effectiveness during crucial moments, especially from set-piece situations.

Discussing his overall approach, Mosimane said he prefers players to operate in roles that suit their natural strengths. He added that modern football requires defenders to be comfortable on the ball, although tactical discipline was necessary to deal with Guinea’s dangerous attacking players.

Looking ahead, Mosimane stressed the importance of remaining humble despite the encouraging result. He also addressed squad depth and injury management, emphasizing the need for a strong group of players throughout the qualification campaign. The Bafana Bafana coach concluded by urging his squad to keep working hard and stay focused on the challenges that lie ahead as they continue their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) journey.
