Kaizer Chiefs Secure Signature of Experienced Winger Elias Mokwana
Kaizer Chiefs have officially confirmed the signing of Bafana Bafana international winger Elias Mokwana, adding another exciting attacking option to their squad ahead of the new season.
The 27-year-old joins Amakhosi after spending the past two years abroad, where he gained valuable experience playing in North Africa and the Middle East. His arrival marks a return to South African football following a successful spell away from home.
Chiefs announced the deal in an official statement, welcoming the Mpumalanga-born star to Naturena. The club highlighted Mokwana’s international pedigree and overseas experience as key attributes he brings to the squad.
“Kaizer Chiefs have signed Bafana Bafana international Elias Mokwana. The talented winger joins the Club after gaining valuable experience in North Africa and the Middle East,” the club said.
Mokwana hails from KwaMhlanga in Mpumalanga and has steadily built a reputation as one of South Africa’s most dangerous wide players. His pace, direct running and creativity have made him a regular feature in the national team setup.
The winger returns after leaving Sekhukhune United in 2024 to join Tunisian powerhouse Espérance Sportive de Tunis. During his time with the North African giants, he featured regularly in domestic and continental competitions.
Across 38 appearances for Espérance, Mokwana contributed seven goals and four assists, underlining his ability to influence matches both as a scorer and creator. His performances helped strengthen his profile on the African football stage.
For Kaizer Chiefs, the signing represents another statement of intent as the club continues to strengthen its squad. The addition of a player with CAF Champions League experience is expected to add quality and depth to the team’s attacking department.
Supporters will be eager to see how Mokwana adapts back to South African football and whether he can replicate the form that earned him opportunities abroad. His versatility across the frontline could provide Chiefs with several tactical options.
As anticipation builds ahead of the new campaign, Amakhosi fans will hope Mokwana’s return home can help inspire the club’s push for silverware. With proven international experience and a growing reputation, the winger arrives at Naturena carrying high expectations and plenty of excitement.
