PSL Reveals Full Schedule for Carling Knockout Quarter-Final Weekend
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed the venues and kick-off times for the remaining three Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final fixtures as the race for silverware intensifies.
The tournament’s first semi-finalist has already been decided after Mamelodi Sundowns edged Golden Arrows 1-0 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday night to secure their place in the last four of the competition.
Sundowns’ quarter-final fixture was brought forward by the PSL due to the Brazilians’ upcoming CAF Super Cup commitment. The Tshwane giants are set to return to Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday for the continental showpiece, prompting the scheduling adjustment.
With Sundowns safely through, attention now turns to the remaining quarter-final clashes, which promise plenty of drama and excitement as clubs battle for a place in the semi-finals.
The first match of the weekend will see defending Carling Knockout champions Orlando Pirates host Sekhukhune United at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, 7 November. Kick-off is scheduled for 15h00.
Pirates will be determined to continue their title defence, but they face a dangerous Sekhukhune side that has shown it can compete with the best teams in the country on its day.
On Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs will take on Siwelele FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The much-anticipated encounter is also set to kick off at 15h00 as Amakhosi look to keep their trophy hopes alive.
Chiefs will be eager to build momentum and advance to the next round, while Siwelele will be aiming to produce a major upset and secure a place in the semi-finals.
The final quarter-final fixture will take place later on Sunday evening when Stellenbosch FC welcome AmaZulu FC to the Danie Craven Stadium. The clash is scheduled to get underway at 18h00 and is expected to be a tightly contested affair between two ambitious sides.
With one semi-final spot already occupied by Mamelodi Sundowns and three places still up for grabs, football fans can look forward to an exciting weekend of knockout football as the battle for Carling Knockout Cup glory continues.
